For Nonprofit Clients
Business Alumni Nonprofit Consultants (BANC) provides Chicago-area nonprofits pro bono expertise from alumni of Chicago Booth, one of the top business schools in the country. These consulting projects help nonprofits further their missions and solve meaningful issues that impact their constituents, the local community, and society at large.
Prior projects have covered a wide range of business issues including:
Â
-
Community engagement strategy
-
Financial analysis
-
Growth and strategic planning
-
Marketing strategy
-
Operations evaluation and process development
-
Performance measurement, KPIs, and dashboard design
-
Program evaluation and alignment
-
Social enterprise
Note: BANC does not provide development/fundraising strategies or advertising materials and does not implement recommended strategies.
How It Works
A team of five to seven consultants is assembled and assigned to a nonprofit client based on the volunteers’ level of interest and relevant skill sets needed for the project. The consulting team works closely with the Executive Director, Board, and other relevant staff and stakeholders to meet specific objectives over a six-month period.
Key Requirements & Qualifications
To be considered, nonprofits must meet the following criteria:
Â
-
Be a 501(c)(3) or operate in the public sector
-
Have headquarters, a physical location, or serve clients in Chicagoland
-
Have an annual operating budget of at least $500,000
-
Have a full-time, paid Executive Director or CEO who has been in place for at least one year
-
Have at least two additional paid staff members
-
Must not be undergoing a transition in organization management or Board leadership
-
Have the resources to implement change
-
Have a Board that approves the goal and scope of the project
Â
Please note: due to high demand, not all nonprofits who apply can be matched to a consulting team in any given cycle. Nonprofit clients are chosen based on both the viability and potential impact of the project, and BANC’s ability to attract the appropriate volunteer consultants.

Learn More About BANC Projects
"Nonprofit organizations are notoriously under-resourced. The BANC team assisted our organization in providing our stakeholders with mission-impact indicators in a clear, consistent and concise way. Without access to their talent, this project would still be on our wish list."
